Fifty years ago Porto city was just a city in Portugal with nothing special to offer. Today it is considered one of the liveliest cities of the country as it has become more cosmopolitan with several accommodation and nightlife options. Lots of artistic and cultural events take place here which involve the local population.

The old buildings such as bars and restaurants have been rehabilitated and the locals are more creative in gastronomy than ever. Thanks to the creative industries which have developed during recent decades, businesses hire lots of young people who make the city even more dynamic.

About the population

Local businesses put more and more emphasis on innovation and creativity in the fields such as performing arts, media and architecture. This requires the involvement of many universities and public initiatives. Walk through the city and notice the urban crafts designed by young artists.
